Ketotifen is a second-generation H1-antihistamine/mast cell stabilizer available in three different forms.
Ketotifen is an anti-histamine which is a widely used medicine to treat allergic reactions (which results in the body producing histamine) which can be fatal.
As well as being used as an anti-histamine, Ketotifen tablets are also used to treat Severe Asthma. While not usable during an asthma attack, research has shown that taking Ketotifen orally (as Ketotifen Fumerate) greatly reduces the risk of having an asthma attack and also reduces the severity of asthma attacks thereby requiring less money to be spent on expensive Asthma Medications.
More recently, Ketotifen has also been used to up-regulate beta-2 adrenergic receptors down-regulated by beta-2 adrenergic agonists. This is common in users of Clenbuterol (usually taken for either weight loss or to aid asthma patients) and steroid users.
